CPCCBC4001A Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low rise building projects

Eligible participants under this program:

(a) must be:

  1. an Existing Worker in the Building and Construction Industry; and
  2. an Eligible Worker;and

(b) must be:

  1. an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
  2. a permanent resident of Australia; or
  3. a holder of a refugee or humanitarian visa; and

(c) must:

  1. permanently reside in Queensland; or
  2. be permanently employed in Queensland; and

(d) must not be:

  1. an employee of any Authority; or
  2. currently enrolled and participating in a school program (excluding eligible school-based apprentices and trainees); or
  3. a contracted trainer and assessor or an existing worker of any RTO; or
  4. already funded by an Authority or other such source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program; or
  5. previously funded under this program for three (3) short courses in the same program contract period. 

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to access, interpret and apply relevant building codes and standards applicable to the construction processes of residential and low rise commercial buildings (low rise’ licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction and Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000 square metres, not including Type A or Type B construction). To successfully construct low rise buildings requires a thorough knowledge of the purpose and content of the Building Code of Australia (BCA), coupled with the ability to interpret other codes and standards related to a specific building.
