USI

USI: Keeping track of your training records is now easier!

The Australian Government is rolling out a new way for students who are undertaking Nationally Recognised Training to be able to find and collate their Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements in one place.

Called the Unique Student Identifier, or USI for short, from 1 January 2015 any student who is undertaking Nationally Recognised Training must have a USI.

What is the USI?

The USI is a reference number that is made up of numbers and letters and is unique for each individual student. Think of it as a Tax File Number, but for training. All training completed from 1 January 2015 will be electronically recorded against a student’s USI.

It costs nothing to obtain a USI and once obtained a USI it stays with the student for life.

How do I get a USI?

Getting a USI is easy. By clicking on the link below you can apply online and obtain your USI in about 10 minutes. It pays to be prepared before commencing study in Nationally Recognised Training with any Registered Training Organisation (RTO), as they will ask you for your USI at the time of enrolment into a course.
