Managerial Course QBCC

Description

The Managerial Course QBCC provides the essential business and managerial knowledge required to apply for a trade contractor or nominee supervisor licence with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). This short course covers financial management, contracts, risk management, business operations, and legal obligations relevant to running or supervising a trade business in Queensland.

Participant Eligibility

An Eligible Participant for this Program


MUST BE:

  • an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident; or
  • a Participant who has the right to work in Australia on a valid VISA prescribed by Construction Skills Queensland and has been employed in the Building and Construction Industry for a period of 6 months or more, and is
  • an Eligible Worker in Queensland, or is
  • an unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for a period not greater than 6 months in Queensland.

MUST NOT BE:

  • an Employee of an Authority;
  • currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program;
  • a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO;
  • funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this Program;
  • funded for more than eight (8) Short Courses under this Program (either in Building Specific and/or Civil Specific) in the same Program period;
  • funded for more than three (3) high risk work (HRW) Units of Competency (excluding Asbestos Units of Competency) in the same Program period;
  • a Participant seeking a Verification of Competency.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, however:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years or older
  • Must provide valid government-issued photo identification
  • Ability to understand business documentation and complete written assessments
  • Basic numeracy is required for financial and operational tasks

This course is designed for individuals seeking to obtain or upgrade a QBCC licence, including:

  • Trade contractors starting their own business
  • Supervisors or managers within construction companies
  • Sole traders looking to meet QBCC licensing requirements

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

  • BSBESB402 Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures

There is no formal expiry for this qualification. However, applicants should always check current QBCC requirements when applying for or renewing a licence.
