The training programme that makes you ready to work safely in the construction sector. It is also referred to as the White Card Course. This course provides the essential skills and knowledge needed to:

  • Identify potential health and safety risks
  • Understand your legal responsibilities under Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws
  • Develop safe work practices on site

Completing this course is a requirement under the law and is crucial to gaining access to construction sites throughout all Australian states and territories. It also meets the Queensland WorkSafe requirement for general construction induction training.

Whether you are starting a career in construction or looking to refresh your qualification, this course plays the role of the first step towards working safely and legally within the industry.

There is no specific prerequisite for this course, but it is strongly advised that participants have foundational skills such as language, literacy, and numeracy, which are essential to meet the performance criteria.

  • Age Requirement: You must be 18 years or above.
  • Identification: You are required to provide a valid photo ID.
  • Verbal Communication: Ability to make an accurate verbal report in response to workplace incidents or emergencies.
  • Physical Capacity: You must be able to demonstrate the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in practical assessments. Reasonable adjustments must not compromise the integrity of the unit.

The essential foundational skills are clearly reflected in the performance criteria of this unit.

This unit is ideal for individuals who are about to commence or are currently working on construction sites. This includes:

  • Labourers and tradespeople

WorkSafe QLD recommends that you retake the course to maintain compliance and up-to-date knowledge.
